This vine is a close relative of the Refosk grapes and it is produced in the Karst area only. The reddish soil rich in iron enhances the particular characteristics of this wine and renders it unique. It is a wine which cannot be mistaken with another. It is a dark ruby-red wine and is slightly alcoholic and fragrant. Its aroma is similar to forest fruits (blackberries, raspberries and blueberries in particular). It goes well with game, meat and Karst prosciutto (an air-dried ham).
